Recombinant Protein L resins for antibody purification
Protein L is first isolated from the surface of bacterial species Peptostreptoccus magnus and now recombinant Protein L is obtained by gene recombination technology. Unlike Protein A and Protein G, which bind primarily through Fc regions of immunoglobulins, Protein L binds the variable region of antibodies kappa light chain and binds a wider range of Ig classes and subclasses. Protein L is therefore particular suitable for capture of a wide range of different-sized antibody fragments such as Fab fragments, single-chain variable fragments (scFv) and domain antibodies (dAbs). It is also suitable for mouse IgM purification from the cell.
